This was honestly the last thing I wanted to write about. I thought high and low on something much more important to talk about than the “innanet beef” between Pusha T and Drakey-Pooh.
Then, I was driving to Braums, and guess what came on the radio?! “Nice For What” It was in THAT moment that I knew I had to address this mess, SOLELY because of how Drake has empowered me as a woman.
This past week, I’ve been called “mean” by a couple of guys, for whatever reason, and then one of my good friends reminded me of the same song.
The irony, huh? See, this article is bigger than the beef for me, y’all. Looking back over Drake’s few songs that have resonated with me, that push women empowerment, I could honestly care less about Pusha T blastin’ somebody.
Ya got “I’m So Proud of You” (my uncle dedicated that song to me back in 2012, btw). Drake applauded me for my “little attitude” problem. He understood the value in it. He appreciated my college education and intellect. He appreciated that I had my hand in a lot of things, but, in his words, I ALWAYS get it done, baby! Furthermore, he appreciated my morals, ethics and values!
In “Nice For What”, Mr. Graham appreciated the fact that I paid my bills on time, that I didn’t stress over the man I had last year because life goes on…. MY NINJA! Mr. Graham told me, because of these things, that I can CONTINUE being “mean” to these boys!
You guys know, I don’t have to go through every verse to prove my point. I don’t care about Drake’s hidden babies, because that’s NOT my business….neither is it anybody else’s. Drake is doing what he’s supposed to do for the culture, and the music industry. That’s all he was ever supposed to do!
I thank you, Drake. I love you, and in the words of C-Murder, “eff them other ninjas cause I’m down for my ninja..” ….DRAKE, that is.
