This weekend, the Royal Wedding, as we commonly refer to it as, took place. Ms. Meghan Markle, an American actress, and Prince Harry exchanged vows before millions of people; turning her from a “Ms.” to “Mrs.”
It was indeed a beautiful ceremony, with lots of details that played a major role in making the big day just that of a “big day”. While the firsts of an African-American being married into royalty are still up for debate by some, the sacrifices it took to get here aren’t.
Let’s get into it…
Everyone knew Markle as a working actress. She lived in Los Angeles, and is most notable for her work in the series, Suits. Upon engagement, Markle decided to retire. From the sounds of it, she may pursue her passion in political advocacy. Nonetheless, a sacrifice, though.
Also, upon engagement, Markle deleted her social media accounts. If you don’t know, when you become apart of the Royal Family, they are your social media account. Though I wish I could delete my personal accounts and still make connections, you got it….a sacrifice.
Does she have a social life? Security is to your left and your right, and I’d worry if I could still keep my genuine, authentic, life-long friends around me. Do they do background checks on everyone the couple socializes with?! I have questions, people!
Y’all, lastly….this woman gave up her American citizenship. The only good thing that came out of that, is that Donald Trump is no longer her President. I won’t say never, however….yep. The biggest sacrifice of them all.
I wish Meghan and Harry all of the bae-like success in the world. I really want her to change the world….like, really! She seems so very headstrong, and Prince Harry feels like the luckiest man in the world.
I’m sure all of the sacrifices listed above have been and will be worth it. Congrats to the newest Duke and Duchess of Sussex!
