We all know who Cardi B is by now.
We first knew her from her appearance on Love & Hip Hop. The rapper made a name for herself through the show, and before the world knew, she was making an even larger name for herself as an artist.
So far she’s collabed with various artists, with the most recent being Bruno Mars and their chart topping remix to the single, “Finesse.”
I personally LOVE the song. Not only do I love the song, but I also love Cardi B. I adore her authenticity, her “real-ness”, her talent, and how personable she is. A lot of folk doubted her, and she came out on top….literally.
BUT, on Sunday, Cardi threw me for a loop. I found out on IG that she is deciding to boycott the NFL and not perform the Super Bowl Halftime Show until NFL Player Colin Kaepernick is re-hired.
Hmmmm….. Here is where the problem lies.
- To my knowledge, no one has reached out to Cardi B to perform during halftime. So you feeling yourself like that, Cardi?
- Secondly, I think it’s terrible timing. We just had a Super Bowl, and there’s a whole, entire year before another Super Bowl.
- We know you’re poppin’ Cardi B, but neither Roger Godell nor the rest of the NFL care about that. There may or may not be an artist hotter than you this time next year, who would GLADLY perform in your place.
Here’s the thing guys, I love Cardi B as much as anyone else. I respect her decision to not perform, but the truth of the matter is (realistically speaking, because I am a realist), IF Colin Kapernick is re-hired, I highly doubt it having anything to do with Cardi B. I love the fact that she would put herself on a limb like that, but I can only imagine that the “Powers that Be” could care less about what they’d call a rash decision she’s made.
Cardi B hasn’t lost a fan in me, (and she probably wouldn’t care if she did), but the truth is…. The NFL is being boycotted by several entities right now, and they probably don’t care if Cardi B is added to the list. Love you, though, sis.
P.S. If I’m wrong about this, y’all are more than welcome to rub it in my face later.
